November 5, 2009
With Forney’s Hometown Christmas only one month away, the FHTC Committee is expanding its immensely popular Christmas Pie Eating Contest to include a Junior Pie Eating Competition.
After many requests, the FHTC Committee will for the first time offer both the annual adult pie eating contest and a new children’s pie eating competition.
Now in its third year, the adults only Christmas Pie Eating Contest, will continue to be scheduled as part of the festivals Opening Ceremonies and will begin at approximately 9:45 a.m. on the Main Stage located in front of City Hall.
Forney adult residents are invited to enter the totally free, outrageously funny, pie eating contest where the winner will once again be awarded a giant, flat screen color television.
Offering only 25 slots in the adult pie eating competition, contest judges will bestow the coveted title “Forney’s Fastest Pie Eater” on the first contestant to completely consume a 9’ inch mystery flavored Christmas pie.
Bruno Ruest “Forney’s Fastest Pie Eater” and two-time Champion, will not be competing this year but has been invited by the FHTC Committee to assist as an official FHTC Pie Contest Judge.
Newly presented this year will be the first annual FHTC Junior Pie Eating Competition.
A smaller version of the adult pie eating competition, Forney’s children are being invited to enter the pie eating contest for a chance to win a brand new Wii gaming system, along with the title “Forney’s Fastest Junior Pie Eater”.
Junior Pie Eating Contestants, like adult contestants, must live in Forney or within the FISD boundaries and Junior Pie Contestants must be between 12 and 18 years of age.
The Junior Christmas Pie Eating Competition, which will only offer twelve contestant slots, will be held on the Children’s Stage at approximately 1:45 p.m. and each junior contestant must be accompanied by a parent.
All contestants will be provided t-shirts. And all contestants, in both competitions MUST pre-register their participation with the FHTC Committee.
To make registration as fair as possible, Pie Contest Entry Forms will become available for registration next Monday, November 9th at the FHTC official website, www.forneyhometownchristmas.com
Contest registration will run from Monday, November 9th through Monday, November 30th and contestant entries will be accepted on a first received bases.
